Fit in an moderate size of enclosure, the most catchy part will be the 4K logo that well placed onto front panel, just beside of the lens. The two color combination looks just nice for everybody living rooms. Apart of the design, what’s more interesting are the image quality and features it possessed. The W1700 is the second BenQ projector that fitted with the newest TI’s (Texas Instruments) 4K DLP chip after the top range model W11000 which already available since a year ago. One may believe the resolution is native 3840×2160 or 8.3 million pixels, however the truth is there is only half the pixels of 4K which rated at approximate 4.15 million pixels. How does it output 4K resolution video quality is supported by the powerful chip which utilize XPR fast-swicthing technology that enable pixel shifting to near 4K standard.
Although packed with high resolution, the contrast ratio, which is another important factor of home use projector is relatively low and even lower than most of the entry projectors. Rated at only 10,000:1 contrast ratio, it is 50% lower than the cheapest SVGA projector, the MS531. This projector also means for ambient light environment due to 2000 lumens brightness output. In general, it will produce more clearer image in darker room with minimal stray lights and reflective surface.
